For the first time in the Championship's history, a builder from Belarus brought a bike to Sturgis and was duly rewarded with third place for his efforts. Yuri Shif, the proprietor of Yuri Shif Customs, took inspiration from German '30s race cars for the styling of his long, low bike and then took the German influence even further by joining two early BMW Boxer engines at the cranks.

Not satisfied with the engineering needed to achieve that feat he then reversed the rear pair of heads to allow him to feed all four inlet ports via a supercharger.

The Machine was built in 2010, but it could have been easily built even 70 years ago.

This motorcycle could be considered as a real respect content to all romantics and enthusiasts af all times and generations, to the ones who like speed and freedom.

Presented at the Magic International Trade Show in Las Vegas, this customized Yamaha YZF-R1 is a collaboration between American rapper T.I. AKOO’s clothing brand and custom sportbike designer and builder Rob Uecker of Voodoo Industries.

Dubbed the AKOO YZF-R1, the bike sports a wooden veneer paint job mixed with what looks like Alcantara or suede on the side and bikini fairings and saddle and mounts a massive Avon 300mm custom rear tire, a unique single swingarm built by C&S Customs and RC Components Czar Eclipse custom wheels.

“What makes this Yamaha R1 so unique is the unusual mixture of textures and materials,” stated Uecker. “When I look at the AKOO brand I see classic, rugged American styling. But I know T.I. is a serious rider, so it was important to me to accentuate the R1’s aggressive street stature. I worked closely with the AKOO design team to translate those aesthetics onto the Yamaha canvas, and the result is the best sportbike I have ever built.”

In the mid ’90s, Donald Atchison, a mechanical engineer and lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, was busy traveling the world as the head of Business Development for a manufacturing firm located in Boulder, Colorado. Long periods of time spent on overseas flights gave way to hours of sketches of the ideal street bike. Later, while enrolled in the MBA program at CU Boulder, Donald went back to his sketches and considered developing the bike as a school project. That idea evolved into another concept: the plan to open an exclusive motorcycle boutique - surprisingly, in the hippest part of downtown Denver - that included obscure, high-end furnishings, lighting, apparel, timepieces, artwork and motorcycle accessories. Atchison decided to take the entrepreneurial route and successfully sold other people’s goods for the next few years.

After much frustration dealing with manufacturers and distributors and complete dissatisfaction with the current landscape of the motorcycle market, Atchison revisited his napkin sketches and formed ECOSSE Moto Works, Inc. in October 2001. Honda to launch Yamaha V-Max’s competitor based off EVO 6 Motorcycle Performance

Honda is in the process to launch Yamaha V-Max’s competitor. According to our friend from Spanish Solomoto that the bike will be built based off Honda EVO 6 concept which was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007.

Power source for Honda’s new bike will be taken from the Goldwing’s 1800cc engine. This engine is less powerful than V-Max’s, 150hp compared to almost 200ps from V-Max’s 1679cc engine.

The new bike based off Honda EVO 6 concpet could be an offering from Honda President Takeo Fukui before his retirement and replaced by Takanobu Ito at the end of this month. This rumor is so hot because at the same time Honda will unveiled its new factory in Kumamoto where Goldwing touring motorcycle produced.

The rumor also hopes that Honda will show its production version of the Honda EVO 6 concept at this year’s EICMA in Milan.

Yamaha offers now the red color for its 2010 MY of the V Max sport cruiser. There is no technically modification. But this bike really makes everybody appreciates of its performance. Equipped with a 1.7-litre, 200 horsepower engine and combined with the latest Yamaha technology such as YCC-T and YCC-I; the V Max is really the best performance cruiser. It passes 100km/h from 0 km/h in just 2.66 seconds and it “eats” quarter-mile (400m) in less than 10 seconds. Balancing its performance Yamaha has given the sport cruiser fully adjustable suspension and Brembo brakes with ABS.

Suzuki Intruder M1800R PerformanceIndia and the surrounding markets have been a wealth of sales for motorcycle manufacturers, but historically the bulk of those numbers were for inexpensive and economical smaller-sized engine bikes.

That trend has changed over 2008 with larger motorcycle manufacturers focusing on India's growing appetite for larger, more powerful models.

Recently, suzuki Motorcycle India launched its first performance motorcycles with the Hayabusa and Intruder M 1800 R (pictured below) for the Indian market, following in the tire tracks of Yamaha and Ducati.

Yamaha launched the YZF-R1 and MT01 last year with Ducati rolling out its line this year, and while Yamaha's models are priced similar to the suzuki prices, the Italian motorcycles manufacturer are considered more expensive bikes.

Some say the high price point has limited Ducati's sales to fifty units being sold this year.

Speaking about the Hayabusa and M 1800 R, Atul Gupta, VP sales and marketing for suzuki Motorcycle India said, "These two are 2009 models launched this year. Once we see demand for these models picking up, we will launch more models from the GSX family in the next six months."

Honda will enter the performance range with its own 800cc motorcycles in the first quarter of next year for all of Southeast Asia.

2008 Ecosse Spirit ES1 Motorcycle Performance

Broadly, there are three areas that combine to make speed. Naturally, engine power is one and weight is another. However, few competitors outside the Bonneville Salt Flats appear to give as much thought to the third: aerodynamics. The Ecosse Spirit ES1 is a radical new concept threatening to turn motorcycle performance on its head.

The concept involves redesigning and saving space (and therefore weight) within the machine, wrapping it in an inspired fairing and theoretically ending up with a lighter and more aero efficient motorcycle.

Research shows that the various bits of motorcycle and rider that stick out into the windblast create an aerodynamically inefficient object. By changing the rider's crouch to an almost kneeling position, and tucking his feet in at the rear, an aerodynamic saving of around 50% can be found. Computer analysis of the Ecosse Spirit has demonstrated a drag coefficient approximately twice as efficient as a standard superbike. Projected weight is a hungry 265 lbs, and with current superbike power output those figures model to a very respectable 220 mph.

The men behind the project are Dick Glover, a Technical Director with a top Formula 1 team, and Andy LeFleming, whose F1 resume includes the design of the first carbon-fiber gearbox. Their search for a partner with proven expertise inevitably led them to Don Atchison at his Colorado-based Ecosse Moto Works (www.ecossemoto.com). With their combined level of engineering credibility, we give the project's assertions serious credence.

"The world's fastest, lightest, and best-handling superbike" claim might sound unlikely, but with credentialed minds such as these making the declarations, at this stage it is tempting to give them the benefit of the doubt. Glover confidently states that "the results will have to be proven on track, and we're prepared to do just that."

Even so, with just this basic wind-tunnel model, there is clearly a long way to go before the ES1 turns a wheel in anger. However, Atchison has a well-deserved reputation for delivering on his claims. Watch this space

With it’s proprietary frame design, all aluminum construction and race inspired performance; it will be the most unique riding machine on the market. The concept of “The Machine” came from countless hours of conceptual drawing and Cad design. Wanting to construct a bike like no other helped conceive the idea of a frame using lightweight aluminum and absolutely no welds. Strong and light, using the motor and transmission as a stressed member, the frame has no flex. Every part is precision machined from 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum to ensure a strong precise frame. The engine is an 80 inch Harley Davidson with a five speed FXR transmission.

The front end reminiscent of an old “Indian Scout” and inspired by the race bike “Brittan V1000″, is a girder type front end also made of billet aluminum. In the rear, there is a brembo single sided swing arm with matching brembo 17″ wheels.

Brammo Enertia Taken For Test Ride Motorcycle Performance

New York, New York — The Brammo Enertia electric motorcycle recently made its debut in New York City. Much fanfare was given – it was showcased in The New York Times’s Automobiles section on Sunday. There was also a segment on “Good Morning America,” and on Fox Business News.

The bike, has carbon fiber extruded aluminum monocoque chassis, and thus feels very light. It weights 280 pounds, and test-riders have commented that it feels more like a midsize dirt bike than a street motorcycle. To compare, Honda’s dual-purpose CRF230L, weighs 267 pounds with a full tank, while the 234-cc Honda Rebel, one of the lightest street-only bikes available, is 331 pounds.

Never fear, the riding position on the Enertia is standard. Controls are arranged in the basic layout, with right-hand throttle and front brake lever. There is no clutch or transmission, so are no controls on the left side.

Test riders reported that the turning radius is wider than expected, “which could make parking and maneuvering in close quarters a bit tricky.”

Test riders also felt that the initial performance was less explosive than some electric-powered vehicles. They felt the bike lacked the “showy, emphatic thrust” of a high-powered street bike. A Brammo spokesman compared the bike’s power output (18 horsepower and 28 pound-feet of torque) to that of a 250-cc gasoline-powered bike.

The retail price of the bike is $11,995.

The top speed is estimated at 55 miles an hour, so the Enertia “straddles the line” between scooter and motorcycle performance.

The first three “Autodrive” settings: Sport, Touring and Rain, are fully automatic engine mappings, selected by the rider via right side switchgear button. The fourth setting, a manual sequential shift mode dubbed Sportgear, operates similar to a traditional gearbox. Seven gear ratios are modulated by a traditional pedal or +/- trigger switch on the left-side switchgear.

In practical application, the Autodrive settings make a noticeable difference in power delivery. In Sport the engine revs high, with quicker acceleration - at least we felt it revs higher, as the Mana has no tach to gauge the RPM. Rain mode, which unlike the others makes an audible clunk once selected, has a more relaxed throttle delivery for its intended wet-weather application. Touring is a happy medium and preferred default setting. In all three auto modes a rider can manually downshift, for better acceleration on passing maneuvers. But once committed to the mindless application of Autodrive, I found it much simpler to just twist the throttle and go.

In fact, the auto setting works so well I found little interest in operating in the Sportgear mode at all. The manual shift mode does a decent job simulating a regular gearbox with seamless upshifts, but I didn’t shift better than the computer – so what’s the point? The entire system, which is electronically controlled, is idiot proof. Even in manual mode the bike will downshift when it needs to and stalling the Mana is impossible.
